– Welcome –

Hi there, I’m Ayla and I started my Pilates journey in 2017 after having my daughter. At first, I was simply looking for a way to get back into shape, I never imagined how quickly I would fall in love with this form of physical fitness or the wider benefits it has, not only on my body but my mind as well.

I quickly realised that there is a lot more involved with Pilates than I first thought as it encompasses a l mind-body awareness, is developed through concentration and control, and requires both balance and strength.
What I love most about Pilates is that the movements seem small and simple but if performed with correct technique you definitely feel it the next day, but the results keep you energised throughout the week while waiting for your next class
I decided to retrain as a Pilates teacher in 2020 and follow my passion. I have loved sharing Pilates with people who fall in love with it just as much as I have, finding the benefits plentiful and surprising not only for their bodies but for their mental wellbeing also.

At a time where the pressures of day-to-day life are rising, a Pilates class will help you release, relax and come away feeling both freer and more in control of your body and mind.

The ethos behind Pilates with Ayla is different from other gym environments.

Combined with my individual approach, sound knowledge and founded upon Social Enterprise principals, I can be flexible and accommodating with class payments. I aim to be there for you when needed regardless of your situation. Everyone in the community deserves to feel good about themselves and regular Pilates classes can enable this.

I have experience in teaching children through to 90+ year old. In my classes you will find a mixture of people from all walks of life, some experiencing physical and others emotional challenges. Whatever your needs, they can be accommodated.

– About –

“Change happens though movement and movement heals” – Joseph Pilates

Pilates lessons aim to teach a safe and effective full body workout; working your main muscles groups, targeting your core strength to support your spine, and realigning your posture before relaxing and stretching you out again. Pilates is not just your average exercise class, it’s a way of rebuilding yourself and taking control over your body.

Pilates provides strengthening actions to help prevent injury, building blocks and support to rebuild if needed and mobility movements to keep your body working efficiently for longer.

“Through the Pilates method of body conditioning, this unique trinity of a balanced body, mind and spirit can be attained. Self-confidence will follow.”

Joseph Pilates created this set of movements originally referred to as Contrology in order to combat his own childhood illness and to prevent any deterioration. He developed the original 34 mat exercises inspired by a range of different exercise, meditative principals, and dance movements. He then used Pilates as a way to rehabilitate after World War 1, finally ended in New York where he and his wife opened up a dance studio and taught professional dancers how to realign their bodies and strength.

One to One Lessons

1:1 lessons are £30 for 45mins – Or you can split this cost between 2 people

If you have a particular problem area, wish to build your Pilates skills at your own pace or simply prefer to workout by yourself then 1:1 lessons are definitely for you. We can get together to discuss where you are currently at, what you wish to achieve, and agree your goals. I then create your very own Pilates plan.

Your plan will be adapted frequently to suit you and your progression to meet your goals. I can also provide you with individual exercises or routines to do in your own time if you would like.

Group Lessons

£7.50 for 45mins – pay monthly – BOOK NOW

I really do believe that less is more when it comes to Pilates. Ensuring your moves are performed with precision, balance and are done at the correct speed (usually very slowly) really gives you a better work out, but in order for me to make sure this is happening for everyone my group lessons will never have more than 8 students at a time, even online.

Group sessions are a cheaper way of getting a Pilates work out and although they are based around a more standard format, with so few at a time even these lessons can be adapted for individuals quickly and effectively to gain results, unlike a larger gym format.

Group lessons aim to work all the main muscle groups and teach the 6 Pilates principals through a mat workout format. New moves will be introduced and the moves you will come to know, and love will be developed frequently to ensure you are always challenged and progressing in your own Pilates journey.

If you’re interested in my lessons, but don’t know if they’re for you, how about a free trial session? Fill in the form below, mention the free trial and I’ll be in touch.

Hannah

“I absolutely love my sessions with Ayla! She is so patient but she will also try and push you out of your comfort zone slightly so that you get the most out of every session. She’s very accommodating for any skill level or any random injury you may have that week. I’ve been doing pilates every week for almost 4 months now and I feel great for it! Not only is it great for my body, it’s great for mental health as it’s a chance to distress and relax. It is also pretty much the only thing that I have scheduled in at the moment and its keeping me in some sort of routine.” – Hannah, Tuesday evening class

    – The Future –

June 2022 – With COVID 19 restrictions being lifted Pilates with Ayla has enjoyed delivering a wide variety of classes around Eastleigh and Southampton. Pilates classes are being held in a variety of locations as well as online for those who still prefer this method.

Pilates with Ayla has been able to support a variety of communities.

People through mixed ability classes, at home through 1:1’s and in a variety of groups through chair Pilates, even supporting disadvantaged children during their school holidays.

Furthering this work, between April 2021 and March 2022 Pilates with Ayla has been able to support others by donating 10% of its class spaces to people either at a flexible and discounted rate or totally for free!

To further this success Pilates with Ayla is continuing to reach out to those most in need and is hoping to set up a donations page on this website whereby others can help join in the support as well.

Pilates with Ayla is hoping to reach pre and postnatal mothers of low income, victim support groups in their recovery stage and refugees looking to find more ways to join communities and settle in.
